04:32 pm - Tears of Dew

 Fog clouds up
the morning sky
masking the soul
of whipporwil's cry
Proud hawks wheel
as the mouses scurry
rabbits twitch and hop
in their slow hurry.
With the brush of wind
tree branches cry
tears of dew, tears of dew.

Grass is at it's greenest
in the blueness
of early morning light,
dew becomes a
thousand mirrors
reflecting this day's
emergence from night.
Flowers open their faces
to the morning light
and with the brush wind
shudder, shiver, and shake off
tears of dew, tears of dew.

04:29 pm - Riding on the Wings of Icarus

The passing of night
is marked by the mourning dew
The world slowly weeps
in the softest light of blue.

The day comes on slow
creeping until it's yellow and white.
The harshest glares always comes
from those closest to the light.

The melting of his wings left burns
upon his arms, back, and head
The great hubris to challenge authority
is what caused Icarus to be dead.

Don't soar too close to the sun
Don't stare directly at the light
Only dare to fly your highest
under the cover of darkest night.

The trail of wreckage
can be followed in the sky
The trail of billowing smoke
Gives to peace its lie.

The trees shudder now
in the briskest of wind
carrying the breath of death,
punishing those who have sinned.

Don't try to outshine the sun
Don't try to be the one that bright
Only dare to shine your brightest
under the cover of darkest night.

Wrap night around you like a blanket
to protect your bones from cold
take shadow deep into your heart
to keep you from being too bold.

Stoop those shoulders
and lower your eyes
don't dare to let the truth shine
that you see through their lies

Don't try to question
Don't try to think for yourself
Only dare to speak in whispers
even under the cover of darkest night.

07:16 am - random reviews

Saw Kung Fu Panda on Friday. Funny movie. I laughed, repeatedly.

Went to Michigan's Adventure. Rode their new roller coaster. It was good, but Cedar Point still has better ones, but it is easily the best that MA has to offer.

Bought a book on Python. Hopefully I'll use it.

11:27 pm - Overheard - Beard

"Hey, I like your beard!"
"Thanks, the wife didn't want me to grow it."
"No? Why not?"
"She doesn't like 'em. In fact she told me to shave it off. I told her, 'Hey, I don't tell you what to do with your facial hair!'. So yeah.. I've been sleeping on the couch for a month now."

04:18 am - The Wembly Woods in Derbenshire, v1

Deep in the depths
of the Derbenshire
Lie the wicked wicked
woods of Wembly
Where underneath
both leaf and bough
only darkness
is not afraid to tread.
What is it about
these awful woods
that terrifies
everyone so?
That's just it
no one exactly knows.

07:34 am - What are you, a bunch of boyscouts?

Seen while playing Call of Duty 4 online, "Are we playing CoD or are we re-enacting The Rocky Horror Picture Show? It is awfully campy to be former."

07:13 pm - Spears and Arrows

Today I was attacked by a man wielding a spear with a garden hose attached.

I lost about a pint of blood and now feel like crap.

08:04 am - Walton's Letter

My Dearest Walton,

If you are reading this it is a happy day. It means the executor isn't
completely incompetent. I'm sure you've already been notified that you
are the chief benefactor of my will. The whole of my main estate and
three quarters of my fortune. The other nineteen houses have been
given, with an appropriate portion of the remaining inheritance, to
what various family and flunkies I felt to have been of sufficient
worth to be deserving of my largess.

You may ask yourself, and if not you then there are surely others who
will, what makes you deserving of the lions share of my earthly
treasures? You who constantly fought me? You who couldn't go a week
without picking a quibble out of jealousy or spite or both? You who is
directly responsible for the failure of three costly ventures? Why
you? You can tell all who ask whatever you want. Make up some lie,
which you've always been so good at, about how despite our differences
I held you in the highest regards.

To you, and only you, I will bestow the truth of why you have come
into such good fortunes. It is because falling from your current
relative squalor is not sufficient revenge. I boost you up only to
make your fall all that much more satisfying. The fact that I'm dead
and cannot enjoy your eventual suffering will not decrease the
embarrassment you have and will bring upon your family name.

I know about the ghastly crimes you've committed. Furthermore, I have
proof. Enough proof for the good King's Courts to throw you from this
Earth and into the depths of Hell. You are the only one who knows this
proof exists. I've hidden it about one of the 19 minor estates left to
others in my will. If you can find the proof and dispose of it before
the someone else finds it, then perhaps you deserve your freedom.

If not, I look forward to shaking the hand of your headless corpse
when you come to join me in Hell.

Sincerely,
M.

04:00 am - A Fascinating Read

I wish I knew of a book that discussed the history of social justice. A book about how our species has handle social equality through the ages. The forces that have guided us in the right and wrong direction. It'd have to be written by someone with a good grasp on history, sociology, economics, and politics. "Leaps and Bounds while Peddling Backwards: The History of Social Equality" Or something like that.

07:24 am - Network Craziness

Right now I'm typing this on a vista laptop running a firefox profile stored on an smbfs share on my ubuntu box. It takes a little bit to open up firefox, but oh well. Of course it wouldn't work away from home, but the laptop doesn't travel much.

For me, inspiration is a lot like sneezing. You can't control when it is going to hit. While you can kind of control the direction, you can't control the spray. While you can fake it, it is almost always easy to tell it isn't the real thing.

05:12 pm - News

"No news is good news."

There are two possible interpretations of this statement.

1. The lack of news is good news.
2. There is no news that is good news.

Let's discuss these in a what was first be last and last be first fashion.

Firstly the last, that's awfully pessimistic.
Lastly the first, that's not inherently true.
